The implementation of the Estate Agents (Licensing) Regulation in January 1999 marked a new beginning for estate agency in Hong Kong as a licensed and regulated trade. The official newsletter of the Estate Agents Authority (EAA) was launched at the same time and titled Milestone to signify a new era for the estate agency industry.

Through the efforts of the EAA and the trade itself, the estate agency industry has undergone a spectacular professionalisation process in the short span of just over four years. The Milestone, chronicler of the changes that took place during these years, has accomplished a historical task.

As the EAA evolves into a new phase of development, its official newsletter will also be given a new name. From this issue onward the publication will be known as the Horizons to suggest the boundless opportunities for development in the estate agency profession. The contents have also been revamped for readers' greater interest.
