At a simple ceremony held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 12th August 2002, awards were presented to candidates who passed with commendation the qualifying examinations held between April 2001 and March 2002. The Chairman and Board members and the Chief Executive Officer of the EAA officiated, and the award recipients attended accompanied by their family, friends and colleagues.
In his address to the gathering, Mr Marvin Cheung, Chairman of the EAA, stressed the importance of continuous education as an important means of self-improvement and the key to career advancement. This was echoed by Mr Anthony Chow, Chairman of the Examination Panel, who spoke on how lifetime learning would help to enhance practitioners' professional competitiveness.
During the year 2001/02 a total of 8,143 candidates attempted the estate agents qualifying examinations and the salesperson examination in both its conventional and computerised formats. There were 83 who passed with commendation, representing about 1% of all who took the tests.
