Two Pamphlets for Consumers
The EAA and the Consumer Council have jointly published a guide to property transaction for the benefit of citizens who are contemplating the purchase of residential properties. Topics covered include the various categories of properties (eg, uncompleted properties, first-sale properties, properties in the secondary market) and what the consumer should know about them, as well as user restrictions, area, the deed of mutual covenant and encumbrances.
With assistance from the municipal housing authorities in Guangzhou, the EAA has also compiled a guide to property transactions in the Mainland for the convenience of Hong Kong citizens interested in Mainland properties. This pamphlet covers the legal aspects and restrictions involved and a list of the government agencies to call for information and assistance is also included.
These two pamphlets, which are published in Chinese at present, are now available to the general public at City District Offices and advisory centres of the Consumer Council.
