Promotion of the estate agency profession
The Authority has always played an active role in promoting the estate agency profession to the community at large, and participated every year in the annual Education and Careers Expo organised by the Labour Department and the Trade Development Council. The Expo is aimed at young people and job-seekers by providing them with information about the estate agency profession, the entry requirements, the licensing system, the qualifying examinations, the modes of agency practice and the employment opportunities.
This year, the Expo took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), and more than 5,000 people visited the Authority's booth. Staff of the Authority at the booth answered the visitors' questions and distributed leaflets. During the Expo, the Authority also gave a career seminar at the HKCEC which was a success and attended by over 70 visitors. The participants were keen to ask questions, to which the EAA staff gave detailed answers.
In addition to taking part in the annual Education and Careers Expo, the Authority also held career seminars and mounted career roadshows at colleges, universities and secondary schools all over Hong Kong, and arranged for students to visit the Authority's Resource Centre. Many of the participants showed interest in joining the estate agency profession. It had been a policy of the EAA to organise activities during the second and third quarters of each year to help fresh graduates from institutions of higher education and Form 7 school-leavers identify their career, in the hope that more young people may be attracted to the estate agency field.
The EAA also participated in the Career Week of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
